This 38 year old tennis player presented with a history of lower leg pain which was progressively worsening over the years and was not improving with exercise or compression stockings.

Other than active treatment, there is little that can be done to help improve established varicose veins. A single treatment session of endovenous laser ablation completely relieved the pain and improved the appearance of the leg, as seen in the image, only two weeks later. In addition, ultrasound-guided sclerotherapy may be used to complete the treatment. There is approximately a 1 in 5 chance that this patient will require treatment over the next 7 years.
